#33 Canada – Toronto

At first look, Toronto seemed like any other generic modern Western city. A sister city of Auckland perhaps, with its central business district circulating around a tall tower, with street names from old England.

Though visitors to Canada seem to be more enthralled with the Europe-lite architecture of Montreal, Toronto has an abundance of charm spread throughout its various neighborhoods, from the Victorian housing of Cabbagetown, through the charming renovations of the Distillery District, the multi-cultural Koreatown and modern poshness of Yorkville.

My favorite parts of town though are the colorful neighborhoods. Queens Street West is home to a plethora of intriguing characters, as well as boutiques where they find and define their style.

But on some summer weekends, Kensington Market is where the city comes alive, street performers entertain children, and adults indulge themselves new tastes brought from the world’s most multicultural society.
